How I Write<\/h2>\t<\/div>\r\n\r\n

Every author has his own way of writing.\u00a0 Some need a fixed environment and fixed writing times.\u00a0 Others need to do extensive outlining and characterization.\u00a0 Some like the freedom of letting the story and characters carry them where they will.\u00a0 None of these approaches is wrong or right.\u00a0 They are simply what works for that author.\u00a0 Below I will describe my methods and tools.\u00a0 Feel free to try them to create your own work.\u00a0 But do not fall into the trap of thinking it is the only or the best way.\u00a0 For that, you must match yourself to your environment and see what works best for you.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\r\n\r\n

    I have written in restaurants, in cars, on a bus.  I have worked in a library, a busy office and currently in a quiet mountaintop retreat center.  One of my writing requirements is to be able to capture an idea anywhere I am and to be able to flesh it out when the time is available.<\/p><\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<\/li>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t

    Just as I have worked in a variety of workplaces, I also have worked at a variety of work times.  Early morning, late evening, for long stretches and during short breaks.  I try to remain flexible in how I work.  The challenge is to be able to bring my mind to focus on the story when the time and ideas are present.  To capture the thoughts before they are lost.<\/p><\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<\/li>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t

    Distractions are a part of life.\u00a0 However, learning to focus past distractions to get the work done is one thing I learned as a child, doing my homework on a bus with as many as seventy other children providing distractions every moment of the hour-long trip.<\/p><\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<\/li>\r\n\t\t\t<\/ul>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/section>\r\n\r\n

    The iPad and iPhone serve as tools for quickly gathering ideas, as well as a writing and editing tool when I have a few odd moments.  They contain copies of Story Planner, Plottr, and Scrivener. I also have Just Press Record voice recognition and transcription software so I can dictate as well as type.<\/p>

    My laptop serves as my primary device for doing my outlining, writing, and editing. Containing copies of Plottr, Scrivener, ProWriting Aid, and SudoWrite, the PC has Voice recognition as Brain.fm to allow me to use focus music to quickly get \"in the zone.\"<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t

    The iMac is used with Vellum for formatting my novels and creatng the ePub, mobi, and pdf files for eBook Sales, as well as a variety of hardback and paperback sizes.<\/p>\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\r\n\t<\/div> \r\n\t\t\r\n<\/div> <\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/section>\r\n\r\n
